“And just like that, we’re coming back for season two,” the announcement video of the second season stated in April this year. The post didn’t give us much insight, with the snippets from the first season changing on the screen. Sarah Jessica Parker, who plays the main character of both Sex and the City and its sequel, also joined the announcement wave, supporting the official Instagram page on her personal account. “@justlikethatmax Season 2 Thank you to our audience. Plain and simple. You are our heartbeat. We love you so. X, SJ,” the actress wrote. Parker returns as Carrie Bradshaw, along with Cynthia Nixon as Miranda Hobbes and Kristin Davis as Charlotte York-Goldenblatt. But they are not the only ones reprising their roles…

Despite never appearing in the first season of And Just Like That, John Corbett remains a fan favorite from his days as Aidan Shaw. Previously, he appeared in three seasons of the original story, as well as the second Sex and the City movie. “I’m going to do the show,” Corbett told Page Six in April 2021. “I think I might be in quite a few [episodes]. I like all those people, they’ve been very nice to me.” Turns out, Aidan would be too much for Carrie in the first season. Now, though, is the perfect time for the return, and Parker herself confirmed it. “Well, you know, I can’t be like, cryptic about it anymore,” she said of Carrie’s ex.

“Season 2 is about resilience and rebound and laughter, and finding laughter more easily for people who might have experienced grief,” Parker shared. “More of our new cast members who we love.” Sadly, it’s not all laughter and happiness. Kim Cattrall’s absence is more than obvious in the sequel from HBO Max. Yet, the cast and the team had a thought-through plan for her leave. “Just as in real life, people come into your life, people leave,” said HBO Max’s chief content officer Casey Bloys. “Friendships fade, and new friendships start. So I think it is all very indicative of the real stages, the actual stages of life.” Instead of Samantha’s active presence in Carrie’s life, the two are still texting in And Just Like That. Moreover, the friends met up in Paris.

As for Carrie’s fling with her podcast producer, Franklyn, the latter will appear in the second season. The main heroine herself not hosts her own podcast called “Sex and the City.” To be more exact, Michael Patrick King explained that the second season will showcase the events three weeks after Season 1. Fans might also see more of Miranda… “I do understand the idea of giving people what they’re expecting to see, which is Miranda Hobbes with red hair going with a narcissistic stand-up comic in Los Angeles,” King added.

So, when can we expect Season 2 of And Just Like That to drop? Filming this fall, the show will be released in the summer of 2023.
