Steve Carell – Marshfield Hills General Store

Actor Steve Carrell isn’t just one of the funniest men in the world, he also owns a business! Not only is Carrell from Concord, Mass., just a two-hour drive from Marshfield, but he and his wife, actress Nancy Walls, often vacation in Marshfield. As such, the actor wanted to preserve the general store as a local landmark when it almost shut down.
“The main impetus to keep it going is that not many of those places exist and I wanted this one to stay afloat,” Carell said. “Just, generally speaking, there are not that many local sort of communal places as there used to be. I think it’s nice for people to actually go and talk and have a cup of coffee and communicate with one another.”
