1. Forrest Gump (1994) – Alabama

It seems like the 1994 film Forrest Gump had everything going for it. Not only did the film star two of the biggest actors of the day, Tom Hanks and Sally Field, but also snagged one of the best directors ever, Robert Zemeckis. For those who have not seen it, the film depicts much of character Forrest Gump’s life, a slow-witted yet kind-hearted man who witnesses and influences some of the most prominent historical events of the 20th century.
Of course, while the film followed Hanks’ titular character from Vietnam to the White House, his home town was the fictional town of Greenbow, Alabama. Unsurprisingly, the movie became a massive success at the box office, becoming one of the top-grossing films ever, with a box office haul of $677 million worldwide.
