The final season of HBO’s biggest show is just a few weeks away – and we’ve got some serious Game of Thrones questions in mind. In season eight, everything’s at stake, and it’s the last chance for creators to make some closures for characters. Here’s are our biggest Game of Thrones questions that still need answering…
As always, serious Game of Thrones spoilers ahead!
Will Jon and Daenerys find out they’re related?
This is our most burning Game of Thrones question. Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen are, by far, the biggest mystery of season eight. Well, of course, after who will win the final battle? Although the romance that sparked between them wasn’t foreseen by all, we all anticipated for them to finally meet. They did and, as we all know now, fell in love.
Oh, and they also share the same blood. However, they don’t know it yet! How will they react once they find out? Or rather – will they ever find out? Bran and Sam know the names behind R+L=J – so will everyone find out Jon is Daenerys’ nephew?
Where will Jaime go, and what will Cersei do about it?
This is another of the biggest Game of Thrones questions: where will Jaime Lannister go? It’s quite safe to say, entering the realm of the final season, that Jaime has joined Jon, Khalisee, and his own brother, Tyrion, in the battle against the White Walkers (as seen in the season 8 trailer).
After being his sister’s, Cersei, lover and closest ally for decades, Jaime decided to go against her after she told him she’d break her deal with Tyrion. The more interesting part of Jaime going over to the Starks’ side is how will Cersei react and what complications will it have on the rest of the season. Speaking of Cersei…
What will be of Cersei and her pregnancy?
Cersei is one of the best characters on the show. Love her or hate her, you’ve got to admire her cunning manipulations to stay on the Iron Throne. Her story is tragic – she lost all of her children, her husband, and possibly her brother/lover, Jamie – but she still has all this power. Some say Cersei needs to die. They certainly have some evidence to back up their theory! Remember Maggie the Witch’s prophecy? “Queen you shall be until there comes another, younger and more beautiful, to cast you down and take all that you hold dear.”
It could be Khalisee who takes her down. However, this feels almost too obvious. Some think the prophecy could refer to Cersei’s younger brother, Tyrion. It could also be Jaime, whose her second-born twin. And don’t you forget – Cersei is pregnant, meaning someone “younger and more beautiful” than she could be her own child. Could Cersei die giving birth, just like her mother? We shall find out!
Where’s Melisandre, and what will be her role in the final season?
Melisandre, although not a main character, is definitely one who always affects the plot whenever she shows up. Remember the time she brought Jon Snow back to life? Last we saw of her, she went to the Red Temple in Volantis. Will she recruit Red Priests and Priestesses for the final battle? Whose side will she be on? Like Cersei, it seems at times that Melisandre wants to be on the winning side, and not necessarily the good side.
Will Arya drop her revenge kill list to join her family in the final battle?
Arya is the Stark child that’s always on the move. She broke away from everything she knew so she could get revenge on the list of people who’d done her wrong: The Hound, Cersei, Joffrey, The Mountain, Walder Frey, Melisandre, and more. In the last few seasons, she’s been hunting them down. Remember how she wiped out the entire Frey house in season seven?
And then Arya returned to Winterfell. Will she put the kill list behind her so she could join her siblings (and everyone else, really) to fight the White Walkers? Don’t forget, she might have some of her kill list names on her side – who says Melisandre won’t join? Arya is one of Game of Thrones biggest mysteries, and we cannot wait to find out what will be her fate.
Well, that wraps up the Game of Thrones questions we still have. We’ll be watching the new season right alongside everyone else, and look forward to keeping you up to date!
