Warning: massive spoilers for Game of Thrones lie ahead!
At Last, It’s Here
HBO finally released the trailer the entire world’s all be waiting for – the new Game of Thrones season 8 trailer. Uploaded on March 6, the trailer quickly broke records, amassing over 81 million views across social media platforms in just a few days. On YouTube alone, it now has 43 million views!
One watch of the trailer and you’ll quickly see why vans viewed it so many times. The trailer is every bit magnificent as we hoped it would be: it has dragons, our favorite/most hated characters, dragons, some Starks, oh, and did we mention – dragons?
The season 8 trailer gives us a small view of the new season. However, it doesn’t give much away; we could only guess by the brief appearance of the characters what’s going to happen next in everyone’s favorite fantasy drama.
Game of Thrones’ Season 8 Incredible Trailer
It seems like far more than two years since season 7, and while the new Game of Thrones season 8 trailer gives us a glimpse of the upcoming episodes – it also reminds us where we left the main characters.
We see Arya; she, just like the last few seasons, seems to be running away from something and fighting someone. Her voiceover says, “I know death, he’s got many faces, I look forward to seeing this one”. There are battleships; we see Bran and Sam Tarly in the same frame (!), we meet Cersei in her castle, the usual smug smile on her face.
If you haven’t guessed it, the most exciting part about the trailer is the dragons. Sansa, dressed in all black, gasps as a dragon flies over her head. It’s safe to assume she’s in Winterfell, and Jon Snow and Khalisee are there too (or on their way). Later, we see Jon and Daenerys approaching the dragons. We also get a glimpse of soldiers getting ready for battle, including Greyworm, who kisses Missandei.
Jaime Lannister is in Winterfell, too – “I promised to fight for the living, I intend to keep that promise.” Tyrion’s there, looking concerned. To sum it up – everyone’s looking very serious, and very battle ready.
What We Learned, And What We Assume
As mentioned before, HBO won’t give away the major spoilers in the trailer like who lives, who wins, and who ends up with who. However, a few key parts from the trailer do reveal a few new things. The main one: Jamie Lannister, aka Cersei’s brother/lover and closest ally, has chosen to side up with the Starks – the Lannisters biggest enemies – in the battle against the White Walkers. Cersei must be thrilled.
Sam and Bran – who is Jon’s brother, remember? – the two brains of the show, have joined forces and will probably be of great help when it comes to the great last battle. It seems like the living Stark children have reunited – Jon, Sansa, Bran. It’s still unclear whether Arya will show up in Winterfell or not, which just makes us all suspect that despite the massive efforts towards the last battle – she’s still looking the get revenge on her list of people who did wrong by her.
