Actor Jack Gleeson, aka King Joffrey, will finally return to our screens after a six-year break from television! Here’s everything his return to acting in the new show Out of Her Mind.
Jack Gleeson Is Back
Without a doubt, King Joffery from Game of Thrones will go down as one of the most hated television characters of all time. Despite being just 19-years-old, viewers delighted in watching the pure villain die at the hands of Lady Olenna.
Now, the actor behind Joffery, Jack Gleeson, is returning to television, after taking a six-year break after his on-screen death. Gleeson will star in a six-part BBC comedy titled Out of Her Mind; the actor also took part in writing. The rest of the cast includes co-writer and star Sara Pascoe, Juliet Stevenson, Fiona Button, Cariad Lloyd, Adrian Edmonson, Navin Chowdhry, Sean Gilder, Tom Stuart, Scroobius Pip, Jumayn Hunter, Sheila Reid, Cash Holland, Lorraine Ashbourne, and Cian Barry.
A Comedy About Family, Heartbreak, And Everything In-Between
According to a statement made by BBC Two, Out of Her Mind will deal with family and heartbreak, and will even include animation and scientific explanation for those things. On the Comedy.Co.UK website, a brief synopsis was written about the show: “Sara Pascoe doesn’t know why everyone else in the world is pairing up and having babies and sets out on a mission to understand them. She tries to prove that romantic love is mere chemicals and conditioning and doesn’t deserve our respect.”
The star of the series, Pascoe, said, “Out of Her Mind is a direct expression of my mind. We’ve turned my brain into a theme-park, and everyone’s invited! The cast are INCREDIBLE and I can’t wait for people to see what we’ve made.” As for Gleeson: while his role is unknown, fans felt delighted that the star would not only star in the show, but also help write it! For those who don’t know, after Joffrey’s death, Gleeson initially said he would retire from acting to focus on behind-the-scenes work.
“Now There’s The Prospect Of Doing It For A Living”
“The answer isn’t interesting or long-winded,” Gleeson told Entertainment Tonight, when they asked why he chose now to return. “I’ve been acting since age 8. I just stopped enjoying it as much as I used to. And now there’s the prospect of doing it for a living, whereas up until now it was always something I did for recreation with my friends, or in the summer for some fun. I enjoyed it. When you make a living from something, it changes your relationship with it. It’s not like I hate it, it’s just not what I want to do.”
The filming or release date for Out Of Her Mind is currently unknown, unfortunately. So, we will have to wait patiently for any new updates on Jack Gleeson and his return to acting!
