Now in its eighth year, late-night host Jimmy Kimmel’s hilarious “I Ate All My Kids’ Halloween Candy” prank is a November 1st tradition. For those of you who are unaware of this annual sensation, here’s everything you need to know. Back in 2010, Kimmel, the host of Jimmy Kimmel Live, decided to challenge parents to prank their children on November 1. Just like the name suggests, he asked parents to tell their children that they ate all of their hard-earned Halloween candy, filming the children’s reaction and sending it into the show.¬†Obviously, this is all in good fun; after a couple of minutes the parents admit to the prank and tell their children, “Jimmy Kimmel told me to do this!”

Kids Are The Best Entertainers In The World

The results of the challenge? A hilarious, tear-jerking compilation of shocked kids. Some children instantly drop to the floor in heartbreak; many start yelling funny insults at their parents. Others respond in the same way their parents react to bad behavior – “I’m very disappointed with you. Go to your room!”

But the best and most surprising are the kids that say to their parents, “That’s okay. I love you.” Some even tell their parents they’re hurt, but are still willing to share their candy with them.

Even though the tradition has been going on for eight years, it never gets old or repetitive. Children are hilarious, and the videos are sweet, entertaining, and made with good intentions. Here are this year’s best reactions!

The Concerned Kid

After this kid found out all his Halloween candy was gone, he could not help feeling furious. But after calming down a bit, he became genuinely worried about his mom’s health. “It could make you sick. It could make you poop!” You’re right, little fella! Sounds like someone listened when his parents told him too much candy was bad for him.

This young lady was told her parents ate all of her candy. She then gasped and looked shocked for a good few seconds. But then the gem came along. She approached her parents, saying “I’m SO disappointed at you.” Seems like this one is all ready to start parenting herself!

The Loving Kid

This child just melted our hearts. After his mom told him she ate all of his candy, she asked him, “Are you mad at me?” Heartwarmingly, the young man answered, “I’m not mad at you at all. I’ll never be mad at you because you’re my mom.” Afterward, he gave her a hug and went on his way. We’re not crying, you’re crying!

One mom said to her kid, “Jimmy Kimmel told me to eat all of your Halloween candy.” At first, he was upset, but then his older brother came around the corner saying “Oh no, this is fake. I know this.” Their mom proceeds to show the empty Halloween bags, asking “Then how do you explain that all the candy is gone?” Without missing a beat, the older brother responds, “because you showed us the videos!” Good memory, kiddo!

Finally, to top off this year’s Halloween prank, the video ended with this adorable kid. He just turned to the camera, asking “Jimmy Kimmel, how many years do you think you’re going to get away with this?” Hopefully, for at least another Halloween!
