Last week, Marvel Studios released quite a touching, sweet, and even surprising video! Not only did the beloved superhero studio honor Stan Lee and welcome audiences back to movie theaters, but it also announced some of its most anticipated sequels yet. No wonder Marvel Studios’ latest video went viral within hours!
Marvel Shares Sweet Video
There’s no question, Marvel movies have become the biggest thing in the world. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the studio decided to push back many upcoming films until audiences could return to theaters. Now that theaters are opening up across the country, Marvel Studios released a video, entitled “Marvel Studios Celebrates The Movies,” welcoming audiences back.
The video also features a voice-over from Stan Lee, Marvel Comics’ original creator. Sadly, Lee passed away in 2018. “I love being with people; it’s the most incredible feeling in the world. That world may change and evolve, but the one that will never change – we’re all part of one big family,” Lee says, over footage from some of Marvel’s greatest hits, like Iron-Man and The Avengers. “That man next to you; he’s your brother. That woman over there; she’s your sister. We’re all part of one universe that moves ever upward and onward to greater glory.” The audio came from an interview shortly before Lee’s passing.
Apart from showing footage from new movies, Marvel also showed viewers sneak peeks at upcoming releases…
Marvel Studios’ Sequels Coming This Year
After starting the video with classic clips, Marvel went on to show sneak peeks of some of its biggest movies coming this year. So, what fan superhero fans look forward to this year? Well, although we are already almost halfway through 2021, the studio plans to release four movies before Christmas. That’s right!
Coming up first is Black Widow, the first film in Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Scarlett Johansson returns as the titular character, supported by David Harbour (Stranger Things) and Rachel Weiz (The Mummy). The movie will follow Black Widow as she returns home and confronts her past.
Then, Marvel will release two new character films: Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Eternals. The latter will star the likes of Angelina Jolie and Salma Hayek, while Shang-Chi will be Marvel’s first film with an Asian lead. Finally, the studio plans to end the year with Spider-Man: No Way Home. The last Spider-Man movie for the time being, Marvel has kept incredibly quiet about this one – so expect some big surprises!
However, what comes after 2021? Well, the video had plenty more announcements to unveil…
Looking Forward To 2022 and 2023
The rest of Phase Four of the MCU looks even more interesting than this year! The studio has a whopping seven films it plans to release in 2022 and 2023. Let’s take a quick look at what they plan to unleash on audiences!
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness arrives first, in March, 2022. Apparently, the first superhero horror film from the MCU, Benedict Cumberbatch returns in this film from director Sam Raimi. Meanwhile, fans cannot wait for Thor: Love and Thunder, coming May 2022, which marks the return of Natalie Portman.
To end the video, the studio revealed the logos of many of its biggest sequels, still in development. That includes Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022), The Marvels (2022), Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023), and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023). Sadly, there’s been little to nothing revealed about the upcoming MCU Fantastic Four movie, apparently coming in 2023. Still, there’s plenty for superhero fans to sink their teeth into!
