For film fans, April is chockful of opportunities to head out to the cinema. From a remake of Pet Sematary to the new Avengers: Endgame, there are tons of great new movies. However, sometimes its better to just stay inside and enjoy a movie at home. And we’re not talking about Game of Thrones. There are a ton of fantastic flicks to binge coming to you this April! From old-time favorites to brand-new original content, here’s our Netflix April 2019 breakdown of all the movies you need to see.

The Hateful Eight (Extended Version, 2015)

Date of release: April 25

If you recall, Quentin Tarantino considered quitting after the script for Hateful Eight leaked, spoiling the ending. So, watching his “final” movie became a pilgrimage for many film fans. They needed to see it in theaters with popcorn and an audience. However, the great director had a change of heart. Now, the ninth Tarantino movie will be released this summer, and it seems epic!

Thankfully, you don’t need to head to the theater now to watch Hateful Eight. You can see the full, uncut, 187-minute version come April 25 on Netflix! It’s slow and dark, while at the same time touching and masterful. The acclaimed filmmaker also shot Eight in 70mm, meaning you can truly experience the wintery beauty of the Colorado mountains. The original cut only lasted 168-minutes. However, Netflix purchased the rights to the original version, which was never seen before.

All the President’s Men (1976)

Over the years, plenty of creators have created cinematic takes on Watergate. After all, Meryl Steep even earned an Oscar nomination in 2017 for her role in The Post, a Watergate film. However, one Watergate movie stands above the rest, the original, iconic All the President’s Men. There’s a reason this film is an audience favorite some 43 years after its initial release. It’s a smart, suspenseful, and, most importantly, still relevant. And now, younger generations could enjoy it in the privacy of their own home, on Netflix.

Someone Great (2019)

If there’s one thing that always does well on Netflix, other than true crime, its rom-coms. So, Netflix always delivers! Someone Great is a Netflix original and also the directional debut of Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (writer for Sweet/Vicious). It Gina Rodriguez, a Netflix rom-com veteran and the star of Jane the Virgin, take on the lead role. She plays Jenny, who recently went through a tough breakup and is in now trying to get over her ex, while also moving. To get her mind off everything, she goes on her last NYC adventures with her two best friends, DeWanda Wise (Erin) and Brittany Snow (Blair).

Bonnie and Clyde (1967)

These days, Netflix is quickly becoming the streaming king of true crime movies and series. From Making a Murderer to Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile (where Zac Efron plays Ten Bundy), they love crime content. However, like All the President’s Men, one crime film started it all: Bonnie and Clyde. This movie is iconic for its gorgeous cinematography, the undeniable chemistry between legendary Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty, and the fascinating storytelling of the odd relationship between the two beautiful criminals. If you’ve never seen it, now is a perfect time!

Unicorn Store (2017)

Date of release: April 5

No question, Brie Larson is the “it” actress of 2019. She’s absolutely nailing it as Captain Marvel – which grossed over $327 million worldwide since its initial release. Unicorn Store is Larson’s first time as a director. In the movie, Larson plays Kit, receives a mysterious invitation to a store that sells “whatever you need.” It also stars Samuel L. Jackson, one of Larson’s Captain Marvel costars. However, don’t go into Unicorn Store thinking its an action-packed superhero film. It’s a sweet and funny movie that will also fill you with childlike wonder.
