1. Hearing Aid Store Inspired Nickname For A Singer

U2’s frontman Bono didn’t always go by the now world-famous moniker. Born Paul David Hewson, the Irish rock star came from humble beginnings in Dublin. Young Hewson was actually a member of a street gang, named Lypton Village.
His fellow gang members named him Bono after a hearing aid store in the neighborhood, Bono Vox. The name translates in Latin to “good voice,” a fitting nickname for an aspiring singer. Wonder if they knew that one day this “good voice” would fill arenas around the world!
