Even though many of us will be spending Saint Patrick’s Day inside, that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate the holiday in style! So, from Cheers to 30 Rock, here are the best Saint Patrick’s Day episodes to stream this holiday.
Season 11, Episode 19: “Bar Wars VII: The Naked Prey”
It fits to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day with one of the most famous shows set in a bar: Cheers! In this episode, the show finally wraps up on the “Bar Wars,” a storyline actually started in the previous season. But don’t worry, we’ll catch you up! Sam loses a bet to Gary, the owner of the Olde Towne Tavern, on Saint Patrick’s Day the chickens come home to roost. Many fans and critics crowned this episode to be one of the best episodes of the season, if not the entire show.
Season 5, Episode 10: “Peter’s Two Dads”
It seems like every Family Guy episode could be Saint Patrick’s Day-related – as Peter and the guys spend probably 70% of their time in their local Irish bar, drinking Irish beer. However, “Peter’s Two Dads” is a particular funny Saint Patrick’s Day episode for the show. In it, Peter finally finds his father in a pub in Ireland! Plus, the episode features the hysterical number at the end, “My Drunken Irish Dad,” which is a sure-in to get you in the spirit of the holiday.
Season 3, Episode 10: “The Luck of the Fryrish”
Futurama is one of the best cartoon series, ever. Every episode is absolutely ridiculous and hysterical, and this Saint Patrick’s Day one is no exception. In fact, Ron Weiner won an Annie Award for its writing! Fry realizes he lost his seven-leafed clover from the place he hid it back in the eighties – so he obviously goes on a quest to find it. The ending is just as hilarious as the beginning, when he finds out he buried it under his dead brother who used it himself to become a success in his own life.
Season 3, Episode 14: “The Funcooker”
The iconic show 30 Rock aired two Saint Patrick’s Day episodes, but the first, released in 2009, was undoubtedly better. On St. Patty’s Day, Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) has to attend jury duty – and the woman on trial has the exact same work problems as Liz herself. It gets messier when she has to figure out how to deal with her show’s stars (Tracy Morgan and Jane Krakowski) who curse and then pass out as they host the St. Patrick’s Day parade.
Season 6, Episode 19: “St. Patrick’s Day”
The Office always tops our lists of holiday episodes, because the characters, just like us, celebrate the holidays. And, also just like us: they get messy, hilarious, and touching. So for this Saint Patrick’s Day, why not re-visit The Office’s St. Patrick’s episode? In this one, the tension between CEO Jo Bennett (portrayed by the hilarious Kathy Bates) and Michael Scott mounts as everyone has to work late on Saint Patrick’s Day. Meanwhile, Erin and Andy plan to go on their “real” first date – but everything goes south. Oh, and this is the one where Dwight introduces to the world “Mega-desk”… so it’s a must-watch!
