Netflix premiered¬†Stranger Things season recently, and everyone’s obsessed! This time around, marketing went farther than ever, and some truly strange (see what we did there?) food items debuted along with the new season. From a real-life Scoops Ahoy ice cream parlor to an upside-down burger, check out some of the fun, limited edition fare created for Stranger Things 3.

Old New Coke

Stranger Things season 3 really focused on new products and developments from the ’80s, including malls and “new Coke.” For those that don’t know, in the ’80s, Coke tried a new formula on America and, well, the country hated it. The new formula and marketing campaign both failed horribly, costing Coke millions. The company returned to the old formula less than three months after launching its new one. Today, it’s still considered one of the worst business decisions, ever – even Coke admitted it. Still, given how infamous new Coke became, Stranger Things had to feature it!

Well, now, for a limited time, you can pick up a can of new Coke! The Coca-Cola Company dusted off the hated formula, putting newly minted cans for sale on its website, for $19.85. The pack comes with two cans of new Coke, a classic Coke, and a Stranger Things branded bottle.

Real-Life Scoops Ahoy

As stated, the new season spends a lot of time in a new mall in Hawkins. More specifically, Scoops Ahoy, where Steve and Robin work for the summer. To celebrate the show’s new season, Baskin-Robbins’ teamed up with Netflix to turn one Los Angeles location into a real-life Scoops Ahoy parlor. Then, just a few days later, the company also converted a Toronto location into one! No need to leave out the Canadian Stranger Things fans!

Both locations look exactly the show’s parlor, down to the signage, treats, and even the uniforms. But it wasn’t a last-minute decision: creators of the show, the Duffer brothers, allowed Baskin-Robbins’ management in on the script. The two were inspired by their favorite Baskin-Robbins growing up. Can’t make it to one of these locations? Don’t worry! They also added a virtual location – inside the most recent Fortnite update!

However, neither Coke nor Baskin-Robbins had anything on Burger King’s Stranger Things product…

Whopper’s Upside-Down Burger

Starting at the end of June, leading up to Stranger Things premiere, Burger King offered an exclusive item: the Upside Down Whopper. It’s exactly what you’d think it is: the chain’s most famous hamburger, made upside-down. Or maybe it’s just served upside-down? No crazy additions or flavors here, it’s the same old Whopper, just flipped. The packing was also exclusive and came with cool ketchup packets that made it look like blood coming from Eleven’s nose. Burger King only served the burgers at 11 locations – get it? The sites also offered Stranger Things 3 merchandise – t-shirts, hats, and more.

Stranger Things¬†3 Premiere: Black Carpet And Hawkins’ Fair

Stranger Things season 3’s out-of-this-world fun did not end with eats and treats, however. The premiere for this season, was, well, unconventional, much like the show. It took place at Santa Monica’s high school, with all of the cast members attendance. Instead of a red carpet, they used a black one. Meanwhile, to kick things off, the fictional-city Hawkins’ cheerleader team and marching band strutted down the carpet.

After the screening, everyone went down to Santa Monica pier, which had been transformed into a real-life Hawkins Fair! It included carnival games, slimy dunking booth, Scoops Ahoy desserts, and even a Ferris Wheel.

With all of this for Stranger Things 3, we can’t wait to see what they do for the fourth season!
