The wait has ended! Well…sort of. While new episodes of The Mandalorian have yet to arrive, Disney finally answered fans’ calls and unveiled the release date of Season 2: October 30th. New Episodes for The Mandalorian

Just a few weeks ago, fans of The Mandalorian felt worried that the coronavirus might postpone season 2, as it had for so many other shows. Thankfully, along with the highly anticipated announcement, Disney also released a teaser trailer for the new season, proving that everything would be ready in time for an October debut. Meanwhile, the trailer did not disappoint! It showcased the Mandalorian traveling with Baby Yoda and also teased a possible fight with a Jedi. As Jedi remained in the shadows for the show’s first season, this hint quickly took over Twitter and Reddit. Just hours after the trailer debuted, dozens of fan theories revolving around the Darksaber, Jedi, and even Darth Maul popped up everywhere!

While Disney neither confirmed, nor denied, these theories, they did also give fans a sneak peek at who will be directing episodes this season of The Mandalorian. And they’re like names you’re familiar with! Of course, Disney favorite Jon Favreau, of Swingers and Jungle Book fame, who directed a few episodes last season, will return. Meanwhile, famous directors Robert Rodriguez (Sin City) and Peyton Reed (Ant-Man) will also tackle episodes. Finally, famous actors Carl Weathers and Bryce Dallas Howard will take a turn in the director’s chair in The Mandalorian season 2. And, there’s more than new directors! There will also be some new cast members…

As you might remember, a shockwave went through the Star Wars community when Disney announced Rosario Dawson would portray Ahsoka Tano in this season of The Mandalorian. For those not in the loop, the character of Ahsoka Tano first appeared on the animated show Star Wars: Clone Wars and then appeared on another animated show, Star Wars: Rebels. Along the way, she became a fan favorite. Now, she will come to life for the first time in live-action!

Meanwhile,┬áTemura Morrison will finally return to the Star Wars universe! He played the entire basis for the Clone Army, bounty hunter Jango Fett in the prequel films. Now, he’ll take on the role of his son, iconic character Boba Fett. And that’s not all! Famous actor Timothy Olyphant, fresh off Netflix’s Santa Clarita Diet, will take on the previously unknown role of Cobb Vanth. Finally, while not confirmed by Disney yet, many sources have reported that 80s superstar Michael Biehn (Terminator and Aliens), as well as WWE superstar Sasha Banks, will join the cast of The Mandalorian for season 2.
