1. The Attack On Pearl Harbor

Japan’s devastating attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, signaled an end to America’s isolationism policy during World War II. At that point, the war had already been raging on in Europe and Asia for two years. The Japanese surprise attack was carefully planned for months and followed the Japanese tactic of engaging the enemy with a first strike before officially declaring war.
The attack resulted in over 2,000 military fatalities, most of them aboard the battleship USS Arizona. To this day, Pearl Harbor remains the single most fatal military action taken against the United States.
