In the late ’90s, the city of Providence, Rhode Island, started a project to revitalize the entire city. So, the city council decided to take a large Park and Ride parking lot and turn it into something everyone wanted: a fantastic mall! To do so, they spent more than $500 million to create a one-stop shopping location. Finally, in 1999, the Providence Place Mall opened to the public.
