
These days, there are medical procedures to save patients from once life-ending diseases. For instance, a bone marrow transplant can save the lives of those suffering from dangerous cancers, like leukemia. One of those lucky people is Chris Long, an employee of the Washoe County Sheriff’s Department in Reno, Nevada. While Long’s diagnosis terrified him, doctors felt a bone marrow transplant might cure him. While he knew the procedure would give him a fighting chance, Long had no idea just how life-changing it would become.
After the transplant, Long needed a routine DNA test, one that would monitor his health and progress. However, when the results returned, Long’s doctors could not believe or understand the results. The results said that Long’s DNA belonged to another person entirely! Long discovered his DNA belonged to a younger man, living some 5,000 miles away! And that was only the beginning of his issues…
1. Meet Chris Long

Chris Long of Reno led a pretty peaceful life working as a project coordinator for technology services at the Washoe County Sheriff’s Department. Usually quite a healthy man, Long started finding himself out of breath and slowing on his weekly runs in 2013. Not long after, he caught pneumonia and spent several days in the hospital.
It seemed that Long might be experiencing some deeper health issues, so doctors ran some tests, including full bloodwork. Unfortunately, the doctors spotted something in Long’s bloodwork and said they needed to run more tests.
