Recently, renowned chicken makers Chick-fil-A gifted one of their employees a car for great work. However, she decided not to keep it. Instead, she decided to redirect the present to her coworker in need! Now, they are even closer friends…
Best Friends At Chick-fil-A
17-year-old Haley Bridges, from Appleton, Wisconsin, started working at Chick-fil-A a little while ago. “I started working at Chick-fil-A in late August,” Bridges said. “I love working here. Not only are the people that work here amazing, but it has taught me so many new things. I always look forward to going to work, I get to see my second family.” When she started, she became quick friends with Hokule’a Taniguchi, 19, who had trouble getting to work. You see, Taniguchi only had a bike.
Still, lack of transportation did not stop Taniguchi and Bridges from becoming best friends. “What we do most of the time is chill at whoever’s house we choose,” said Bridges. “We are very spontaneous, as well as our little close friend group we have.” However, soon, their relationship would grow to a whole new level, thanks to one kind act…
Spending Christmas With Co-Worker
This last Christmas, Chick-fil-A threw quite the Christmas raffle! The grand prize? A brand new car! Of course, the company never knew it would lead to a life-changing interaction. “Everyone would get raffle tickets, and how many hours you work determines how many you get. I received 5 tickets,” Bridges explained. When Bridges and her other Appleton workers saw they could win a car, they decided to gift the car to Taniguchi in the event they won. What a fantastic idea!
“The car was the only raffle where we couldn’t pool our tickets, one ticket per person. Our friend group and some other friends decided to all put one in for her,” Bridges said. “We were all very nervous that someone else would get chosen, but we kept our hopes up.” Believe it or not, Chick-fil-A pulled Bridges’ name from the hat. She had won the grand prize!
Grand Prize – A Car!
The moment Bridges heard her name, both she and Taniguchi broke into tears. “My heart felt as if it was racing and we both stood up and ran to each other. Everyone in the room felt like they were gone, it felt as if it was just us two in the moment. We hugged each other hard and cried so much,” Taniguchi recalled. “Everyone else was either crying or clapping. We all had a big group hug with everyone near us and it felt so unreal experiencing this.”
Meanwhile, Bridges also received a fantastic Christmas present, although not from Chick-fil-A. When her aunt heard of her amazing good deed, she started a fundraiser to help pay off Bridges’ car! Of course, the young lady does not regret her choice for a moment. “No one deserves it more than [Taniguchi],” she said. “It’s crazy seeing her car parked in the parking lot, and I’m glad that she has a reliable ride to work and the grocery store as well.”
