Sometimes, Christmas light displays aren’t only pretty – they’re also therapeutic. Such is the case at Adobe, a rehabilitation center in California. Every year, the staff and the patients decorate the place, together. It’s a group effort that brings the community together and is a great way to battle the stigma of rehab centers. It’s a social tradition people look forward to as the holidays emerge, and a positive activity for all. We can’t think of a better way to celebrate this wonderful holiday!

New York City is definitely a holiday city. From the Thanksgiving Day Parade to the tree in Rockefeller Center, the city knows how to celebrate. It is also a heavily decorated city – you’ll see excellent displays of Christmas lights wherever you’ll go. But Dyker Heights, a neighboorhood in Brooklyn, takes the meaning of “light displays” to another level. The entire neighboorhood plans and works together on the most extravagant array of lights and colors in the spirit of the holidays, from Thanksgiving up till New Year’s Eve. The picture above showcases just one of the many incredible displays!

All it takes is one man with a vision. Charles Fiore, a 21-year-old from Wilmington, Mass., made it his mission to cover his entire house – as well as his driveway, and front yard and backyard – with Christmas lights. He has been working on it since September, putting up the elaborate light display every night, sometimes staying up until 2 am. The result? A fairy-tale-like home that looks like something from a holiday special, ready just in time for Santa. Take a 360° tour of his house here!
