Meet Catcher, a sweet and naughty three-year-old golden retriever who resides in Castle Pines, Colorado, with her family. One day, while Lisa Menzies, her human mother, went out of town, Catcher decided to step out for a nice long walk, after the door suddenly opened with a strong breeze. “We were getting some repairs done on the house,” Lisa explained to the local news. “Our contractor left to go to lunch and shut the front door, and the wind blew the door open while I was gone.”

And, just like that, Catcher vanished! As you might imagine, the Menzies family felt extremely worried about their little pup. “She could have wandered out to a busy road, and you hate to think what’s going to happen then,” Lisa remembered thinking. Thankfully, it wasn’t too long at all until a Good Samaritan found him and returned little Catcher to his loving family.

A Special Delivery

Luckily, a home security camera managed to capture part of the escape: video shows Catcher happily leaving his house, walking across the front lawn, and disappearing out of sight. It also recorded the heroic return! A little while later, a FedEx driver showed up – with Catcher in his arms! All captured on video! When the FedEx driver recieved no answer at the front door, he called the number on the dog’s tag. “”He just said, ‘I found your dog, and the address on her tag is where I’m going to take her,’ and then he put her in the house with such care,” Lisa Menzies recalled.

Finally, the doorbell camera footage shows the FedEx driver returning Catcher home and shutting the door after him. “Seeing him carry her into the house like that … in my head, I was thinking of the theme song from the Titanic,” Menzies shared. She said it was kindness “like in the movies.”

“Her’s Our Hero”

As you might imagine, the entire Menzies family felt incredible gratitude towards the total stranger who stopped his day to return a lost dog home.

“He interrupted his day and his package delivery schedule to pick her up and hand-carry her into our home and lock the door behind him. I don’t want to think about where else she could have ended up. He is certainly our family’s hero,” Lisa Menzies said. We could not agree more! In these chaotic times, a little kindness goes a long way!
