Everyone, young and old, knows that parenting isn’t easy. Kids emergencies can range from a simple dirty diaper to the most terrifying hospital visits. Just take it from this mom who recently had what she called a “poop-trophe” at a local playground…
A Normal Day At The Park
A mother of three, Brittany Berry knows that you can never plan for everything as a parent. However, she never expected one day at the playground to go as poorly as it did. It started like any other trip: Berry picked up her kids from school after a run and then took them to the park. “After my run, I’m sitting at the picnic table, exhausted, drenched in sweat, watching my babies play, vowing to join them as soon as I rest up,” the mom explained. Then, everything took a turn for the worse when Berry’s oldest daughter, Sadie, approached…
“At one point Sadie goes down the slide and then walks in front of me and I see ‘wet’ shorts.” And, as any good mother would, Berry immediately sprung into action when she saw evidence of an accident. Unfortunately, nothing could prepare her for what she found: “I’m talking on[e] of them poops you usually see in a newborn, where it’s all up then back and down their legs and you contemplate just throwing the whole baby away.” Not only that, but Sadie had gone down the slide first, leaving behind a lot of evidence! What would Berry do?
What Can One Mom Do?
Completely taken aback by her daughter’s “poop-trophe,” Berry’s day only went from bad to worse when the mom discovered she only had four wet wipes on hand. So, the mother did the only thing she could do: she stripped Sadie down, wrapped her in a blanket, and quickly took the whole family home for a wash.
However, after returning home, Berry knew there was no way that she could leave the slide in a condition she did. “There’s no way I’m leaving my kid’s slug trail of possibly contagious feces on this playground so some other kid can get sick,” the mother explained. So, Berry then rushed back to the park and cleaned the slide with wipes and cleaning supplies from home, as onlookers “stared in disbelief.” Finally, everything was done. After cleaning the slide, the mom thought the tale was over. Berry never expected her Facebook post about the ordeal to go viral…
Facebook has become a place for many to vent their feelings. So, after returning home, as many would, Berry told the tale of the “poop-trophe” online. “We’re all home now; we’re alive, showered, traumatized, but okay. Moral of the story? Always bring extra wipes, extra clothes, extra blankets, extra everything!” Berry finished the story
Of course, Berry never expected her post to go viral. But it did! Within a few days, the post garnered over 300,000 shares and thousands of comments. “Honey, you speak the truth only! That’s real life,” wrote one mother. “I have laughed and laughed after reading this story! I have been right where you were today!!! Thank you for sharing,” wrote father, John Masters. We’re glad to see that Berry’s post brightened the days of others!
