A Different Kind Of Hospital
A decade ago, Steere House, a nursing home and rehabilitation center in Providence, Rhode Island, decided to bring some animals into its halls. You see, there are proven therapeutic benefits to animal companionship, especially for those who are recovering from illness or facing their older years. So, the staff at the nursing home started to prepare the property for the arrival of their live-in therapy fluffies.
It took quite a while for the home to become ready for the pets. After all, they wanted the cats to roam wherever they wanted, including the Haven Advanced Care area, the dementia care unit. Soon enough, however, the nursing home felt prepared for the animals. Now all that was left was to pick up the cats!
