It’s the golden era of the television, and every year the networks try to up their game. They’re all in a rush to come up with new ideas for TV shows and better stories. However, sometimes, they just play on our hunger for nostalgia. We’ve rounded up three new(ish) TV shows of 2018 that we are incredibly pumped for! Here are some of the exciting shows the networks have been cooking up for us!
Stars: Rachel Bilson, Eddie Cibrian, Aliyah O’Brien, Xavier de Guzman, and Alice Lee
Genre: Action, Comedy
Everyone knows the 2000’s hit TV show The O.C. It was a part of our teen years, and we fell in and out of love alongside our favorite characters. Rachel Bilson, who played smart, sassy, hilarious Summer in The O.C., is now returning to our screens and we are entirely down-for-it. The show is ABC’s new action-comedy series Take Two. Bilson is portraying Sam Swift, a former star of a hit cop series who tries to make a comeback in her acting career by joining a real, classic loner detective (Eddie Cibrian) in his work. We predict it will be a funny, thrilling mentor/protege relationship (who will fall in love eventually?) show.
The Enemy Within (NBC)
Stars: Jennifer Carpenter, Morris Chestnut, Raza Jaffrey, and Kelli Garner.
You must have been living under a rock for the past two decades if you don’t know the hit show, Dexter. Jennifer Carpenter portrayed the main character Dexter’s sister, Debra. We missed Carpenter’s excellent acting skills, and soon she will be back on our screens in a new series airing on NBC. This time Carpenter will portray the most notorious American traitor and former CIA agent Erica Shepherd, who is kept in a supermax prison. Carpenter will act alongside Morris Chestnut, a brilliant FBI agent, who reluctantly frees Shepherd so she can help him hunt down a wanted criminal. We can never get enough of these cop shows!
Murphy Brown (CBS)
Stars: Candice Bergen, Faith Ford, Joe Regalbuto, and Grant Shaud will reprise their roles, while Tyne Daly, Jake McDorman and Nik Dodani will join the cast.
As the 30th (!) anniversary of the classic hit TV series, Murphy Brown, approaches – CBS is returning with a revival. Times have changed since the show last aired (1998), and so the re-booted series will take part in the current era, dealing with non-stop media coverage trouble, the ‘Fake News’ phenomenon, and our constant need to be plugged in online. As far as we know, stars of the original cast- Candice Bergen, Faith Ford, Joe Regalbuto, and Grant Shaud – will take part in the reboot. We expect it to be as hilarious, sharp and fun as the original since good comedy is timeless. Now, who said they’re interested in a Murphy Brown marathon!
