Recently, in a story that seemed too bizarre to be true (even for the internet), we learned it’s not that hard to get noticed by a celebrity. If you go viral, that is.
Bria Madrid, A Mega Spice Girls Fan
Everyone loves going back and looking at old childhood photos. It brings back sweet memories of wonderful times with family and friends. Sometimes you even discover something about your past while looking at pictures of moments you don’t quite remember. This is precisely what happened to Bria Madrid, an American 26-year-old. Except Madrid’s discovery was much bigger than a forgotten birthday party or soccer game.
While looking through some old photos, Madrid found an old photo of herself from 1997, when she was just five-years-old. The photo was taken when she was lucky enough to see the Spice Girls in San Bernadino, California. All these years, Madrid was sure she took a picture with none other than Baby Spice, Emma Bunton. Looking at the photo now, Madrid realized it wasn’t Baby Spice – but it wasn’t some random stranger, either.
While she may not have met Baby Spice, Madrid realized her parents photographed her with Gossip Girl star Blake Lively! Sporting blonde pigtails and a classic 90s outfit (check out those platform boots!), it’s so clear how Lively was mistaken for the youngest Spice Girl. She was sweet enough to pose with Madrid and, until now, let Madrid believe she met her idol, Baby Spice.
After realizing the hilarious misidentification, Madrid posted the photo of herself and Blake Lively on Twitter writing, “Found a picture when I was 5 at my first concert. #SpiceGirls and took a picture with a girl dressed up as Baby Spice who I just realized now was @blakelively.”
Funny enough, the tweet caught Lively’s attention. She uploaded the 1997 photo to her Twitter and Instagram page and wrote, “Pretending to be someone else… since 1997 (Thanks @briaaamadridfor the photo of us at the Spice Girls concert. Sorry -not sorry- to trick you into thinking I was @emmaleebunton)”.
When Two Blonde Legends Come Together Over A Fan’s Photo
To make things even more hilarious, Baby Spice herself actually noticed the Instagram post and replied! She wrote, “So cute, you’re rocking those pigtails.” To which the actress replied, “I’m officially [dead]. Forever bowing down to you. I cannot believe you know who I am. This will never be normal.”
If there is one thing we love, it is when a celebrity is humble and down to earth. It’s so much fun to see celebs fangirling one another! Keep on being an internet icon, Blake, and a fashion role model for the ages, Emma!
