By this point, almost everyone on Twitter has heard the Cinnamon Toast Crunch saga. However, if you missed out, we’ve got you covered! According to Jensen Karp, comedian and husband of Boy Meets World actress Danielle Fishel, he found pieces of shrimp in the popular cereal. But the company disagrees!
Cinnamon Toast Crunch With A Surprise Inside
There’s no doubt that comedian and producer Jensen Karp, now better known as Cinnamon Toast Crunch Shrimp Guy, will never forget March 23, 2021. Karp usually loves the cinnamon-sugar cereal. However, on this morning, he found something interesting inside the box. Instead of a toy, Karp says he discovered two shrimp tails in the Cinnamon Toast Crunch box! Of course, he immediately took to Twitter to show the world. “Ummmm @CTCSquares – why are there shrimp tails in my cereal? (This is not a bit),” Karp tweeted, along with a picture of the “tails” in question.
As you might imagine, Karp’s tweets soon went viral. Many around the world could not believe this crazy story. In fact, while many users believed Karp, others thought that he was overreacting to sugar in the form of shrimp tails. Soon enough, General Mills, the company that produces Cinnamon Toast Crunch, commented on the whirlwind of craziness…
What, You Don’t Like Shrimp?
Within a few hours, General Mills quickly responded to Karp’s claim. “After further investigation with our team that closely examined the image, it appears to be an accumulation of the cinnamon sugar that sometimes can occur when ingredients aren’t thoroughly blended. We assure you that there’s no possibility of cross contamination with shrimp,” the representatives wrote from the official Cinnamon Toast Crunch account. However, Karp says they never reached out to him for more info. Can’t be that thorough of an investigation, than, can it?
In fact, the comedian did not trust the brand, so he took it a step further. “I am happy to report: a Carcinologist (crustacean researcher) that works at NHMLA is going to morphologically identify the shrimp using microscopy and he will work with a team of researchers to use DNA to try and identify the putative shrimp down to species,” Karp tweeted later. “THIS IS HAPPENING.”
That’s Topanga’s Husband
Apparently, General Mills agreed to pay for the testing. “No real update,” Karp wrote later. “Waiting for the envelope I agreed on from General Mills to send them back pieces and some of a shrimp tail will leave home for DNA testing at Noon. They grow up so fast.” Hopefully, this all gets resolved soon.
People were also shocked to find out that Karr’s wife is none other than Danielle Fishel. That’s right, Topanga from Boy Meets World! “A man named Karp married to a woman named Fishel found shrimp tails in a box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch. The cereal was purchased from the Costco on Topanga Canyon Blvd, and his wife played Topanga in Boy Meets World. Meanwhile, Karp used to be a guest on Pistol Shrimp Podcast,” wrote a user on Twitter. “I can’t believe this is all factually correct,” Karp tweeted back. Only time will tell what will become of the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Shrimp Saga – we’ll keep you up to date!
