Everything seemed normal when this Texas Denny’s waitress served a couple their breakfast. Afterward, the two tipped, paid, and left. However, hours later, they returned! This time, the couple gifted the waitress a new car! Here’s the fantastic holiday deed the internet is buzzing about…
The Denny’s Waitress Who Commuted 14 Miles To Work
The holidays are a wonderful time that often bring the best out of everyone. Many donate to charities, spend their time volunteering, or helping others who are struggling.
Adrianna Edwards is a waitress who works at a Denny’s restaurant in Galveston, Texas. While she lives less than 15 miles from work, it took Edwards four hours to arrive each day. Why? Well, even though she lives close by, Edwards does not have a car. Still, that has not stopped the Denny’s waitress from arriving on time and working hard. “I have bills to pay. I’ve got to eat. You’ve got to do what you’ve got to do,” Edwards said. The determined worker had no idea that two customers would soon change her life forever…
The Good Samaritans
A few days before Thanksgiving, Edwards was working her usual shift. She served breakfast to two customers – a couple – who started chatting with her, asking about her life. They learned the distance the young woman walks to get to and from work, and that she doesn’t own a vehicle.
Over the course of the meal, Edwards told them of her 14-mile walk to work and lack of a vehicle. The couple felt moved by the waitress’ story, as she had decided to forgo a car, instead saving for college (and, one day, a car). At the end of the meal, Edwards gave the couple free ice cream, as they’ve grown fond of each other in the short time they were talking. However, the couple’s “tip” was beyond anything Edwards could imagine.
The couple paid, tipped, and left, and the Denny’s waitress thought nothing of it. However, a few hours later, the couple, who wish to remain anonymous, returned – but not for seconds! Instead, they returned with a newly-bought 2011 Nissan Sentra. Edwards felt confused – and then the couple handed her the keys to the new car. She couldn’t believe this was real…
“I Still Feel Like I’m Dreaming”
Of course, Edwards immediately started crying – and so did everyone else! The woman who bought the car along with her husband said, “[It] made me happy that she was so moved by that.”
The Denny’s waitress wanted to repay the couple, still in disbelief about her good fortune. However, the couple wanted nothing in return – except for Edwards to pay the good deed forward, when she can. Now, she’s very excited to pay it forward in any way she can! Instead of four hours, Edwards’ commute will only take 30 minutes. Plus, she can now put all of her savings towards college!
“I still feel like I’m dreaming. Every two hours, I come look out my window and see if there’s still a car there. When I see somebody in need, I’ll probably be more likely to help them out (and) to do everything that I can to help them out,” Edwards said, with happy tears in her eyes.
