Over the past month, the royal family members have remained quite busy. From the Queen’s first Instagram post to updates on Prince Harry and Meghan, there’s a lot to keep up with! No worries if you missed anything, we’ve got you covered. Here’s your royals update, covering everything you need to know!

Her Majesty’s First Instagram Post

Let’s start earlier this month, when Queen Elizabeth posted her first-ever Instagram pic! However, unlike most of us, it isn’t a picture of her on the beach or of her corgis. Instead, it’s a historical letter she wanted to share with the world. She uploaded the post (below) to @TheRoyalFamily, the royal family’s official Instagram account. The Queen snapped the pic while visiting London’s Science Museum, to announce its summer exhibition. The photo shows a letter to Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, from Charles Babbage, the world’s first computer engineer.

Her Majesty’s added a caption, reading, “Today, as I visit the Science Museum I was interested to discover a letter from the Royal Archives, written in 1843 to my great-great-grandfather Prince Albert. Charles Babbage, credited as the world’s first computer pioneer, designed the ‘Difference Engine,’ of which Prince Albert had the opportunity to see a prototype in July 1843. Today, I had the pleasure of learning about children’s computer coding initiatives and it seems fitting to me that I publish this Instagram post, at the Science Museum which has long championed technology, innovation and inspired the next generation of inventors. – Elizabeth R.”

Wondering why she signed the post “Elizabeth R.?” That’s how the Queen signs all official documents! The “R” stands for the Latin word “regina,” which means Queen.

Prince Harry & Meghan’s Future Home: Frogmore Cottage News

Late last year, we reported Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are currently moving to Frogmore Cottage. They’ll officially move in once they finish renovating, before the birth of their first child. The Queen recently gifted the young royals the home, after they shot their engagement photos there.

The cottage is going through some major construction work, as the royal family wants it to be safe and secure, as well as baby-ready. This week, news of the newly designed cottage broke. Part of the renovation is knocking down five apartments into one huge living space! Additionally, there will also be a built-in yoga studio and fireplaces in each main room. Reports say Doria Ragland, Meghan’s mother, will receive her own room, as well.

And as for the nursery, you can expect nothing but the best: a vegan wall paint, a grey and white color-schemed theme, plus a state-of-the-art monitoring system. Security throughout the grounds will also be updated, including cameras, “new walls, anti-intruder landscaping, and high-security gates.”

In charge of redecorating is Vicky Charles, who worked with couple-friends of Meghan and Harry, Amal and George Clooney. The cost of all of this? Over three million pounds – that’s over $3.8 million!

Finally, on March 8, Duchess Meghan Markle attended a panel discussion for International Women’s Day at King’s College London. Meghan recently received the position of Vice President of the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust, which took up the majority of the conversation. However, the pregnant duchess also discussed women’s empowerment and her child-raising philosophy.

When asked if she used Twitter, Markle said, “My personal decision is to not to feed into negativity and be more cause-driven, action-based. For me, it’s a tricky one, because I’m not part of any of that. I don’t look at it. Sorry, no. For me, that is my personal preference. But I do read The Economist.”

Then, Markle shared some of her experience and thoughts on feminism and raising boys and girls in an unequal world. “It’s funny, I’d actually been joking these past few weeks; I’d seen this documentary on Netflix about feminism and one of the things they said during pregnancy was, ‘I feel the embryonic kicking of feminism’. I loved that. So boy or girl, whatever it is, we hope that that’s the case.”

Markle went on to discuss the way women in power might seem intimidating, and how boys and men need to be a part of this discussion as they’re 50% of the population. “There’s nothing threatening about a woman coming up to the same level, it’s our safety in numbers. Men are part of the conversation…my husband certainly is!”

We can’t wait to see Meghan and Harry’s child, or what the royals get up to next!
