A Fantastic Actor
Actor Michael Nader, best remembered for his roles as Dex in Dynasty and Dimitri Marick in All My Children, died from cancer complications last week, according to his representative. He passed away at his home in Northern California.
Nader proved that with hard work and dedication, anyone can achieve their dreams. As a six-year-old, he was hit by a drunk driver and struggled with physical issues while growing up as a result. Nader started acting right after graduating from high school in 1963, starring in a string of Beach Party movies. However, his big break came when Nader earned the role of Farnsworth “Dex” Dexter in Dynasty in 1983. From there, he stayed on the show for six years, before moving on to movies like The Great Escape II.
In the ’90s, Nader returned to the small screen with roles in Perry Mason movies and All My Children, where he portrayed Dimitri Marick for a whopping 405 episodes between 1991 to 2001. After a decade on All My Children, he went into semi-retirement only to come out in 2013 for one last season of All My Children. Then, as a result of his cancer diagnosis, Nader retired for good.
Now many of his family and friends are remembering Nader for the outstanding actor he was…
Remembering Michael Nader
After the news of Nader’s death broke, his wife Jodi Lister released her own statement on her husband’s death. “With heavy heart, I’m sharing the news of the passing of my beloved, Michael,” she wrote in her statement. “We had 18 wonderful years together with the many dogs we fostered and adopted. Recently, Michael was so thrilled to reconnect with his friends from the cast of ‘Dynasty’ during Emma Samms’ virtual event to help raise funds for long COVID research. Michael was working on a book about his life and addiction at the time of his death. He was a beautiful and fascinating man with many talents and skills. I will miss him forever.”
Soon enough, many of Nader’s co-stars and friends remembered the man. Actress Joan Collins, who spent many days on the set of Dynasty with Nader. “Very sad to hear of the death of my onscreen husband and lover #michaelnader aka #dexdexter,” Collins wrote on Instagram. “I loved working with him and his character was a wonderful mixture of tough and tender.” She added that Alexis was “crazy to keep on rejecting him.”
Actress Susan Lucci, who starred opposite Nader in All My Children, also had kind words. “I am so lucky to have played opposite Michael—playing some of the most romantic scenes ever—dancing in palaces in Budapest, our gorgeous Greek Orthodox wedding, complete with crowns. Michael was a doll to work with and to know,” she wrote on Twitter.
The actor is survived by Lister, daughter Lindsay, and granddaughter Juniper. Rest in peace Michael Nader.
