Thank god for Mr. Feeny, aka William Daniels – who at 91 years of age sabotaged an attempted break-in to his own home. Read all about the harrowing incident below!
The Attempt Break In
If you grew up in the ’80s or ’90s, you likely already know William Daniels. He’s the 91-years-old beloved face in America, and known for his roles as Dr. Mark Craig on St. Elsewhere (winning two Emmys for it), and also portrayed Mr. Feeny On Boy Meets World. What you didn’t know about Daniels is that he’s also a fierce ninja. Or, at the very least, a retired Batman.
It was a quiet November night earlier this week when Daniels and wife Bonnie Bartlett, 89 (above), heard odd noises from the back door. Daniels realized it was a burglar trying to force his way inside. Daniels turned on the lights and made his presence noticeable – and the burglar ran away.
“He Ran Away With Bruises All Over Him”
William quickly contacted LAPD, who came onto the scene in a matter of minutes. A statement from the police department was issued, saying, “Luckily, Mr. Daniels was able to frighten away the person and the LAPD quickly responded.”
Following the incident, the actor appeared on Good Morning America. He joked around, saying, “I struggled with an intruder, took him to the ground, I beat him up and he ran away with bruises all over him.” Obviously, this is all in good humor – but remember, Daniels is over 90-years-old! It was a real scare for the couple, but representatives of the legendary actor confirmed Daniels’ and Bartlett’s health and safety, and that everyone is doing very well.
William Daniels, The Hero We Deserve
Numerous fans and former co-stars supported Daniels online with love and well wishes. Will Friedle, Daniel’s former co-star, tweeted, “Don’t mess with Mr. Feeny!” Another former co-star, Danielle Fishel (Topanga on Boy Meets World), tweeted, “Weird detail no one’s reporting, as the burglar ran away [Daniels] yelled, ‘Dream! Try! Do Good!'” – which is obviously a hilariously sweet reference to Freeny’s last bit of advice on the show, as Boy Meets World ended.
Daniels retired from the industry many years ago, but still takes on small parts. For example, he’d appeared on Grey’s Anatomy in 2012. Daniels appeared in all seven seasons of Boy Meets World, which ran from 1993 to 2000. The show revolved around the student life of Cory Matthews, played by Ben Savage, and the life-lessons he learned from his experiences of growing up.
There was a spin-off of the show – Girl Meets World – where Daniels appeared as the iconic Mr. Feeny for five episodes. Disney canceled the show in 2017.
